Paper capacity comes in at a fine 850 sheets, which can be spread out over three different paper trays, though one of those trays is an optional addition. It can also handle printing of up to 10 envelopes, though there isn’t an automatic feeder, which is really nothing to get worked up about. What all this means is that the 3800 is fairly nimble in all that it does.

Memory is one of the 3800’s strong attributes, and it comes in at a total of 544 MB. 96 MB of RAM is standard. This means that the 3800 should be able to handle even gargantuan print jobs of hundreds of pages with little to no problem whatsoever once its memory is increased. It, like many HP products, is capable of making use of Windows-based operating systems to run itself, and – somewhat surprisingly – it also is able to make use of a number of different Mac OS systems.
